Legal Eagle Soaring with the Eagles Ely Nevada

Ely Nevada Yelland field Legal Eagle XL flight

Took off the morning in Legal Eagle XL ORV from Ely Yelland airport. Field elevation 6,259 msl with density altitude at 6,880 msl. Took 35 minutes of climbing at full power and working anything going up but got to 10,607 msl. We, ORV and i were flying in Eagle country where Eagles fly although i did not see any today this is there home 

Finally got internet coverage so got youtube video uploaded. Took off from Gouldings airport in Monument Valley Utah, filed elevation 5,200 msl, density altitude at take off was a little over 6,300 feet.  length of runway is 3,400 feet with take off on 34 and landing on 16, no go rounds.  Take off was with 5 gallons fuel and 3 quarts oil, about 40 pounds, pilot, cameras, battery back for cellphone/gps and cellphone with foreflite program was 255 pounds for a total of 548 pounds.  Temperature was 61 degrees. Take off run was about 600 feet. I did not change carb jets from what i had been flying in Oakdale, elevation 243 msl but in Oakdale EGT was 1,400 and here it was 1,200

ORV and i have moved to Ely Nevada To do more flying

Elland field airport is at 6,200 msl with density altitude over 7,000.  Will try to do some flying in the morning. I had not changed jet sizes from Oakdale 243 msl to Monument Valley 5,200 msl and EGT was only about 1200 so i changed jet size for tomorrows flight

Internet access

Well good news got several beautiful still shots from gopro video and have a video made and ready to upload to youtube. Internet here and my wifi hot spot tell me it will take 995 minutes. So i guess will have to wait till better internet service. Going out in morning and see if i can get some more shots.

We took off this morning. Got of ground and climbed quiet well. Field elevation 5200 msl. Max alt during flight was 7500 msl.

Rain has stopped. Just scattered thundershowers and wind is down.  Will take to strip before long and put ORV together and prepare to aviate

Monument Valley in the rain.  Been worried about wind, forgot rain, dumb california in the drought. Rain today and tomorrow and if nothing changes weather improving.  Victory #1 me and Legal Eagle XL got here

So the adventure begins off to Oakdale to pick up Legal Eagle then to Monument valley Utah Friday

Independent brake testing

Donig touch and goes in cross wind.  Love the seperate brakes still have some learning but well worth effort. Have not had any wild steering adventures since installing them

Watching the winds and weather for next adventure. Hope this big weather system moves east of the rockies this week or early next so it gives me and B-95 a chance. More to come soon
